The NHL Daily Fix is your morning wakeup call, with news and notes for the day's hockey action.

Morning buzz

The Rangers might have sucked in their loss Tuesday night to the Sabres -- of course those are John Tortorella's words -- but this sequence from Henrik Lundqvist was the furthest thing from sucking you'll see.

If you had any doubts whatsoever, yes, the Kings are still the best at this Twitter thing. (@TheActiveStick)

Party on, dudes.

Rick Nash is liking life in the Eastern Conference after spending his whole career up until now in Columbus. He talked about the transition to New York and how it's all worked out as he had hoped. (ESPN New York)

Speaking of Columbus, the Blue Jackets' only path to salvation isn't through tanking for another high draft pick. Bob Hunter explains. (Columbus Post-Dispatch)

The Anaheim Ducks keep inching closer to the Blackhawks; they're now just four points behind with one game in hand. And, yes, it's something Bruce Boudreau is aware of and something he wants to do.

"I want everything," he said. "I never once thought Chicago was out of range. Everybody else did. We've got a lot of work to do. We've completed half our season. You don't win anything in half a season. Consistency and staying healthy are the keys." (Los Angeles Times)

Here's Claude Julien asking where the penalty is with some salty language and some really interesting acting about acting.

Nice acting job, Claude. (SB Nation)

Everybody loves talk about escrow, right? Not really, especially the players. But it is relatively important, especially after the CBA summer. So news on that front: Players have agreed to change the escrow rate this season from 10 percent to 20 percent. (ESPN.com)

We had a trade in the NHL yesterday as the Minnesota Wild sent Matt Kassian to Ottawa for a late-round draft pick. The Senators were looking to address a toughness issue on their team; Kassian will help with that. (Senators)

We end with a movie trailer from Russia featuring Evgeni Malkin and Ilya Kovalchuk. I don't understand a word, but outside of their scene in a lounge, it seems like a pretty light-hearted flick. (SI.com)

Wednesday's schedule

Ottawa at Montreal (7 p.m. ET)
Philadelphia at New Jersey (7:30 p.m. ET)
Detroit at Calgary (9:30 p.m. ET)
