The NHL Daily Fix is your morning wakeup call, with news and notes for the day's hockey action.
• Something that wasn't so sweet: The Dallas Stars' performance against the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago scored the first seven goals on its way to an 8-1 rout in Dallas, and Stars forward Jamie Benn had perhaps the perfect words to sum up the effort.
"We [expletive] on our first goalie, and we [expletive] on our second goalie. We left them hanging out to dry, and that's unacceptable. We need to do something in this room to change that. It was just an unacceptable effort tonight." [Stars TV]
• Rough night all around for the Vancouver Canucks. They not only lost the game to the Detroit Red Wings, they also lost David Booth to a lower body injury. Booth doesn't have great numbers this season, but he has been playing better than the stat line might otherwise indicate. [Vancouver Canucks]
• The Columbus Blue Jackets won again on Saturday night, extending their franchise-record point streak to 10 games with a 1-0 shootout win over the Phoenix Coyotes. As has been the case throughout this entire streak, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was the difference-maker. He turned aside all 39 shots that he faced in regulation and overtime (plus two more in the shootout) to carry his team to victory. [Recap]
