It wouldn't be entirely fair to say this call is the only reason why the Montreal Canadiens lost to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. In a one-goal game, there are countless plays that you can look at and say, "Well, if that play had gone another way, it would have been a different game."

That's hockey. It happens.

But we tend to focus on the plays that happen at the ends of games or in overtime or the plays that lead to that one goal that ultimately decides the game. Kind of like this "high-sticking" call on Montreal's P.K. Subban in overtime of their 3-2 loss to the Sabres.

Take a look at the play and decide for yourself if that's a real high-sticking penalty or a phantom call.

It's a tough call for the refs in real speed, but that doesn't look to be a penalty.

Naturally, Buffalo scored on the ensuing power play and escaped with the win after losing a two-goal lead.
