The NHL Daily Fix is your morning wakeup call, with news and notes for the day's hockey action.

Morning Buzz

That's Matt Hackett above making a nice glove save for the Minnesota Wild on Friday night. Unfortunately for the Wild, it wasn't enough as they were on the losing end of a 5-3 decision against the Dallas Stars. And Wild defenseman Ryan Suter wasn't exactly pleased with the officiating, including a cross-checking call on him early in the third period.

“A 3-2 game, and they call that,” said Suter, via Michael Russo of the Star Tribune. "It's too bad the refs don't have to answer to anyone. I don't want to get fined, but I feel we're accountable. If we do something wrong, we have someone looking after us. I feel the refs need to have the same accountability.” [Star Tribune]

In the game, Stars forward Jaromir Jagr collected his 1,000th career assist. [Recap]

The Anaheim Ducks scored a late goal in Chicago to knock off the Blackhawks 2-1 and give Ray Emery his first loss of the season. It only took until the end of March. [Recap]

Sergei Bobrovsky had a night off for the Blue Jackets. And though Steve Mason allowed four goals, Columbus was still able to get a win to keep pace in the playoff race with a 6-4 victory in Calgary. [Recap]

Jon Cooper won his coaching debut with the Tampa Bay Lightning thanks to a 6-5 shootout win against New Jersey. [Recap]

It's trade deadline season, the Buffalo Sabres are out of it, and the players are tired of being asked about the trade deadline. None more than Jason Pominville.

“You hear your name, and I think you hear your name from people that want more followers on Twitter, will come out and say different things,” said Pominville, via The Buffalo News . “You hear your name here and there, but where are those things really coming from?

“I think we've just got to worry about playing. There's going to be rumors every year. It's the way it is. It's the nature of the sport. It is what it is. We've just got to worry about what we have to do.” [The Buffalo News]
