When the Colorado Avalanche play their final game of the season on Saturday at home against the Minnesota Wild, it could also be the final game for Milan Hejduk. Of his career, that is.

Hejduk, who signed a one-year extension before this season, has not had the best of seasons. In 28 games, the 37-year-old has just four goals and seven assists, on a similar pace to his 14-goals, 23-assists season last year, numbers that were a bit disappointing. It was just two seasons ago that Hejduk had 22 goals and 34 assists.

His time on ice has plummeted as well, with him averaging just 13:01 per game this season.

If he is indeed done, Hejduk's departure will be another reminder of how fast the glory days of the Avs franchise are disappearing. He has been with the Avalanche/Nordiques franchise since he was drafted in the fourth round of the 1994 draft while the team was still in Quebec.

Hejduk played in his 1,000th career game earlier this season, an always great milestone for a hockey player. His best season was in 2002-03 when he finished with a league-high 50 goals to go with 48 assists.
