ADespite some breakdowns early that led to goals, the Blackhawks controlled play for most of the game. Additionally, Chicago was able to mount that two-goal comeback in the third that made this one of the all-time great Stanley Cup final games. They found a way to get a huge win at home.
A-How do you give the B's any less after a game like that? They might have lost, but Boston played well and converted on the chances they were given in regulation. Despite giving up the third-period lead, the Bruins were inches away from ending this game in the second overtime.
AIt may not always look like he's doing something, but Marian Hossa is almost always doing something. That was the case in Game 1. Though only collecting one assist, Hossa was continually around the puck and was strong at both ends. He also led all players with 10 shots on goal
AA pair of goals to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead was a good way to start the Stanley Cup final for big Milan Lucic. He did what he always does well, using his size and showing off some solid scoring touch.
B+He may have given up four goals in the game, but Tuukka Rask also made 59 saves in the game and was a calming presence even in the most high-pressure moments. The last goal that got buy him took several weird bounces, and is impossible to put him at fault. He played mostly outstanding.
B+At one time considered the weak link of Chicago, Corey Crawford took a step forward in his Conn Smythe candidacy with a 51-save effort. Crawford made some huge saves early and got a little help from his post in the second overtime. This postseason has been remarkable overall, but Game 1 will be a big highlight.
DYou hate to pick on the rookie, but Torey Krug's turnover at the Bruins blueline turned the tide of the game in the third period as it directly led to Dave Bolland's goal that made it 3-2. The Blackhawks and United Center faithful were rocking after that gaffe. Krug didn't see the ice the rest of the third period.
