One of the best things about playoff overtime is that there are no commercial breaks, the action goes straight through. Somebody forgot to tell the people at KXAN in Austin, Texas.
Just as the Blackhawks were moving into the offensive zone for what would turn out to be the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, literally right when the puck was moving to Brent Seabrook before he potted the goal, KXAN cut to a commercial. A morning news promo, to be precise. When the game came back on, the Blackhawks were mobbing Seabrook, celebrating their 6-5 win over the Bruins.
Holy smokes, talk about a bad time for a commercial break. The people in Austin who were watching and enjoying one of the best hockey games you will see for a long time to come, got Heidi'd.
I hope that KIA salesman gets his money's worth.
Just to make it all the more painful, KXAN tweeted this before overtime started, reminding viewers they could see overtime then the news would come on. Oops.
They're heading to overtime in Boston. KXAN News at 10 will be on following the completion of Game 4. #StanleyCup— KXAN News (@KXAN_News) June 20, 2013
