It sounds like they're looking to make a couple more in the coming weeks.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Maple Leafs are "still eager" to add a young center and a top-four defenseman. Even more, Dreger mentioned there are rumblings that defenseman -- and captain -- Dion Phaneuf could be in play, though general manager Dave Nonis said he hasn't received any calls about him.
That the Maple Leafs are in the market for another center and defenseman is nothing really new. Both positions, particularly center, have been weaknesses for the Leafs in recent years, and it's likely they're going to lose center Tyler Bozak to free agency (unless they decide to give him too much money).
Phaneuf's name being involved in trade rumors is a little surprising given that he's their best defenseman and they already have a need for another top defenseman. He is entering the final year of his contract and will count $6.5 million against the salary cap in 2013-14.
The problem the Leafs are going to have in trying to add impact players this summer is they're going to be tight against the cap. As of Sunday, the Leafs already have more than $40 million committed to just 11 players. That leaves about $20 million to fill out the rest of the roster.
