The Montreal Canadiens are already out of their amnesty buyouts.

After buying out the contract of Scott Gomez before the season, the Canadiens have told Tomas Kaberle that he will be receiving the team's second and final amnesty buyout as reported by TSN's Bob McKenzie.

Kaberle only has more season left on his contract, but it comes with a $4.25 million salary-cap hit. Since GM Marc Bergevin came onboard in Montreal, he has been doing what he can to bring the Canadiens' salary down and make sure they are good to go for the diminished cap next season with the new CBA. Clearing the Kaberle contract from the books without a charge to their cap leaves the Canadiens in pretty good shape for the summer spending period to come.

Kaberle only played in 10 games for the Canadiens this season, scoring no goals and recording just three assists. He signed a three-year contract with the Hurricanes before last season and only played 29 games in disappointing fashion in Carolina before he was traded to the Canadiens. He did have 22 points in 43 games with the Habs last season, but this season was a lost campaign, and with the Habs having plenty of defensemen signed already, he was a clear candidate.

Now Kaberle will join the free agents on the market. It's going to be interesting to see how much interest he gets from other teams. It would obviously have to come at a much lower price -- and probably on a short term given he's already 35.
