The Pittsburgh Penguins and Kris Letang seem to be getting close to an agreement on a long-term contract extension, according to a report from Renaud Lavoie of RDS.

According to Lavoie, the two sides have made progress on a deal and while there are still some minor details to work out it's close to being finalized. The deal could be worth as much as $58 million over eight years and include a partial no-trade clause that would include 15 teams.

Letang is entering the final year of his contract that pays him $3.5 million.
