In the chaos of the first few picks of the NHL draft, a trade came through between the Minnesota Wild and New York Islanders.

The Wild sent rugged forward Cal Clutterbuck to the Islanders in exchange for disgruntled prospect Nino Niederreiter. That was first reported by Arthur Staple of Newsday. The Islanders also received the 70th overall pick in this year's draft from Minnesota in the deal.

Clutterbuck is a restricted free agent so he comes to the Islanders without a contract for next season. Two seasons ago he had 15 goals and 12 assists in 74 games with a whopping 103 penalty minutes. This past season he had four goals to go with six assists in 42 games.

Niederreiter is under contract for one more season before he hits restricted free agency. He has spent most of his career thus far playing in the AHL, where he spent all of this season for the Islanders. He did get a shot with the Isles two years ago, scoring just one goal in 55 games. He was a very hyped prospect who just didn't seem to be fitting with the Islanders.
