More NHL offseason: Rumors | Top 50 Free Agents

When the Toronto Maple Leafs traded for Dave Bolland at the draft, a lot of people saw that as a sign that Tyler Bozak would definitely not be returning. The free agent-to be didn't seem to have a spot anymore.

However, Toronto GM Dave Nonis said the acquisition of Bolland didn't change a thing and negotiatoins would continue with Bozak. On Tuesday, we got a little look where things stand.

Correction: We got a look at what Bozak wants and boy, is it a lot. From TSN's Darren Dreger:

So yeah, that's a pretty hefty offer. To be clear, that's coming from Bozak's side of the table, not the Leafs. It's not crazy that a player would ask for the moon, it is a negotiation and all. But they have supposedly been at this for a while now and free agency is right around the corner, so it's fair to ask: Really?

Bozak has been centering a line with Phil Kessel, so he's been in a pretty fortunate spot. He has put up decent numbers in that situation, scoring 18 goals with 29 assists in 73 games in 2011-2012 and then adding 12 goals and 16 assists in 46 games this past season. Not bad production, but again, remember he's playing with one of the game's best scorers.

Asking for a max deal and that money is awfully ambitious. He hasn't even racked up 50 points in a season yet playing with pretty favorable linemates.

Unless Bozak and his agent back off their high asking price, he'd better prepare to see if he can possibly get that out on the open market because it appears like Toronto isn't willing to give it to him -- and rightfully so. That's too much money and too much time for Bozak.

Oh, and just to add to the fun, Dreger mentioned that maybe the Leafs will buy out Mikhail Grabovski after a down season. Yup, it's silly season in Toronto!
