The Philadelphia Flyers and Wells Fargo Center took summer promotions to a new, boring low on Monday when they invited fans to come watch paint dry. Really. The attempt was to set the Guinness record for most people watching paint dry.

Believe it or not, some fans actually took them up on the offer because apparently they had absolutely nothing to do on Monday. Just about anything sounds like it would have beat an afternoon of watching the ice be made and painted in Philadelphia such as doing 10 loads of laundry but some people disagreed.

In total it looks like 195 people showed up to watch the historically boring drying of the paint. While it might not sound like a lot it should be the new record because as you might have guessed, no such record existed before. You painting the garage with two buddies didn't count.

For everybody who had the good senses to find something else to do, this is what you missed. Simply thrilling.

At least last year the Maple Leafs only asked people to watch paint dry from home.
