Not only was there somebody interested in buying the stitches that were once in Andrew Shaw's face, somebody was interested in paying a lot of money to get their hands on this once-in-a-lifetime item of memorabieia.

Shaw had placed his stitches -- which he earned in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final before the Blackhawks won the Cup -- up for auction with al proceeds benefitting the V Foundation. Disgusting, huh? Not disgusting enough for somebody to spend $6,500 to win them.

So think about that, somebody (probably a Blackhawks fan) said to themself "I have a few grand to blow, might as well buy Shaw's stitches!" Of course it helps knowing that the proceeds will go to a good cause, making it a digestable investment but still ... At least the purchaser did a good job on getting the final offer at $6,500 seeing as how Shaw wears No. 65. So there's that symmetry.

It is a bonus that they are already framed and thus you don't have to handle the stitches yourself but it's still an odd collectible to be sure. But for some collector this just completed their perfect Blackhawks wall.
