It's pretty standard practice for goaltenders to get new mask designs every season, Heck, sometimes goalies get multiple designs in the same season.

In the case of Cory Schneider, it's pretty much a necessity. Seeing how he was traded from Vancouver to the New Jersey Devils in the offseason, a new mask would be in order because green and blue wouldn't exactly go well with black and red.

Thus, Schneider's new mask design from designer extraordinaire David Gunnarsson.

The design might look a bit simple in the above picture but it's a little more complex as Gunnarsson explained on his Facebook page.

Our plan was a design that works in all angles, and a so called 2 in 1 design, a design that works both on a distance in the arenas, and close up in the TV cameras. At a first glimpse it's an old school design, and when you come closer and closer a new dimension opens up and the design transforms into a new design in front of your eyes.

As usual it's loaded with all the Special FX such as #DAVEART 3D PaintTech, Metallic FX, Holographix FX, just to name a few.

I can't wait to see this one on television and to see if it truly will pop. Even if it doesn't, it already looks pretty awesome with it having almost a black ice look to it on top to go with the partial Devils logos on the sides.
