New York Islanders center John Tavares is seen as one of the best players in the NHL already and he's only getting better. At just 22 years of age, it's scary to think of how he has progressed to the point that he was a Hart Trophy finalist this past season.

Anybody who ever tells you that these guys are just simply blessed with great skill and ability are doing a huge disservice to the work they do. It's not easy being great. Sure a part of it is simply natural ability and instincts, not everybody can be an excellent hockey player but hard work is a huge part of it too.
