A collection of NHL players are in New York City this week as the season is right around the corner. It's a time for exposure before the season begins to try and ramp up excitement for the NHL and such.

The festivities in New York included a visit to the New York Stock Exchange on Friday morning where nine NHL players "rang the bell" to begin trading for the day. By ringing the bell it means they pretty much stood on a stage and clapped while the bell sounded.

If it's hard to tell that would be David Clarkson and Dion Phaneuf from Toronto, Patrick Sharp from Chicago, Jason Spezza of the Sens, Jimmy Howard from Detroit, Ryan Kesler of the Canucks, Ryan Getzlaf from Anaheim, Andy Greene from the Devils and finally John Tavares of the Islanders. Interesting that the Rangers weren't represented given their proximity to Wall Street and all but the other two Metro area teams were repped.

In addition to ringing the bell, players were also on the floor. No, they weren't buying or selling stocks -- I don't think -- but instead were chatting it up with the investors. Nothing says NHL season like schmoozing with Wall Street regulars.
