Earlier this summer we passed along video of a mask that was in progress, the mask for Steve Mason of the Flyers. In the past his masks had featured ghoulish images so he decided to combine old with new and turn Philadelphia icons into zombies.

It was pretty cool to see in sketch form but WAY cooler to see in color actually on the mask. So behold, Zombie Ben Franklin, Betsy Ross and even George Washington (although he's mostly associated with Virginia, isn't he?).

That is phenomenal, simply outstanding. What a concept and of course it was pulled off perfectly by artist Franny Drummond. This isn't just one of the best masks of this season, it's one of the best ever in my humble opinion.

Now hopefully Peter Laviolette starts Mason for the games in late October and early November around Halloween.

See other goalie masks that have already been released this summer.
