The Florida Panthers have had a busy start to their weekend. That is, at least, in the front office.

The team announced Saturday that they had made a few roster moves, including signing forward Brad Boyes and defenseman Tom Gilbert to one-year deals.

Both players had been given a tryout with the team in recent weeks.

Boyes' best years came in St. Louis between 2007 and '09, when he compiled 76 goals in two season. He scored 10 goals last season with the New York Islanders.

Aside from bringing Gilbert in, the Panthers also traded for enforcer Krys Barch, who was with the team in 2011-12. Florida gave the New Jersey Devils 24-year-old Scott Timmins in return.
