One of the most fun parts of being on a team of any sort are the team-building exercises. Some companies will do things like trust exercises or ropes courses. The Edmonton Oilers? They decided to enact their own version of The Amazing Race.

The CBS show that has been on for years now has really been catching on in hockey lately. Last season former NHLer Bates Battaglia and his hockey-playing brother Anthony won the whole thing and on the current season two members of the LA Kings Ice Crew form one team. In Edmonton's scaled down version, there were four teams and nine obstacles.

It looked something like this.

Segway races, Nail Yakupov crashing a Go-Kart, making fresh guacamole for unsuspecting customers, players doing some charity work and yes, singing. Awful, awful singing.

After watching Jordan Eberle and company trying to sing Hero by Enrique Iglesias, I couldn't help but think how much the Oilers need Kris Versteeg on their team before trying that again. Thankfully some of the guys on Andrew Ference's team were familiar enough with the Righteous Brothers to save that classic bar tune.

Maybe, just maybe, it was that round of team exercises that helped the Oilers pull off a three-goal, third-period comeback over the Devils on Monday night. That or it was just fun. Now, somebody keep Yak out of Go-Karts before he gets himself hurt.
