Oh. My. Goodness. The Vancouver Canucks, at the time tied with the Montreal Canadiens, gave up one of the worst own-goals you'll ever see. And I know, I just did a post on this very blog about a bunch of them.
In the second period, knotted 1-1 and the Canucks on a power play, Roberto Luongo collected the puck behind his own net. He passed it to Jason Garrison, who left it for Dan Hamhuis. Somehow, Hamhuis mishandled the puck and it trickled in front of the net, off of Luongo's skates and into the net.
Montreal's Lars Eller got credit for the goal, his fifth of the season. The goal actually stood as the game-winner as well. Ouch, Vancouver.
It was just one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. As the commentators note, the Habs were going for a change. There wasn't a white jersey in the vicinity. This one is destined for lifetime achievement status in the Hall of Shame.
