As the Bruins got the puck started up ice, Datsyuk did perhaps what he does best -- and that's saying something -- and that was pursue on the backcheck, eventually picking the puck at center ice right from Patrice Bergeron (certainly with some help from the rough ice at TD Garden).
It only got better from there. Not only did Datsyuk turn up ice and then dangle the puck around Zdeno Chara, turning the stalwart inside out, he then was able to throw a saucer pass through the crease and past the diving Johnny Boychuk off his backhand right to Henrik Zetterberg, who finished on a short-angle shot past Tuukka Rask for the 1-0 Wings lead.
What a shift, my goodness.
How can you watch plays like that and not thank your lucky stars that we get to watch Datsyuk play in the NHL?
