Part of being a professional athlete is the amount of charitable work you get to do from making kids' dreams come true to simply being a positive force in the community that supports the team.
And sometimes it just means you get to take funny pictures with dogs as the Washington Capitals did on Tuesday.
Some of Caps sat down in front of the cameras with pets from the Homeward Trails Animal Rescue in Virginia to put together a calendar and, well, the results are excellent. It's not only the dogs being dressed up in ridiculous outfits, this time its the people's turns too (and by the people we mean the Capitals players).
Sit. Now stay and enjoy some t-r-e-a-t-s.
First up, Nicklas Backstrom in a matching bowtie with a pup. Sure beats a choke collar.
Next it's Mike Green who looks oh so comfortable with a pup ready for a party on his lap. Woof, there it is!
Any team function needs a goaltender with wacky glasses and a lei, right? Right. Thanks Braden Holtby.
Lastly, if something involves wacky costumes you know Alex Ovechkin is going to be involved and Ovi did not disappoint, going all out in his garb while apparently wrestling a pitbull named Hook on his lap. Don't stop the party.
Remember, these photos are going to be used for a calendar and we all know that calendars make for great gifts over the Holiday Season. Consider this the gift that would keep on giving.
Plus, it's all for a good cause. They're having fun while doing it and, well, so are we.
