Edmonton Oilers star forward Taylor Hall was injured after getting hit by Ottawa Senators defenseman Eric Gryba, knee-on-knee. Hall actually ended up getting a penalty on the play for swinging his stick at Gryba in retaliation.
Hall served his penalty, then came back onto the ice and took a whack on the knee from Kyle Turris. Hall immediately looked in discomfort, went right to the bench and headed to the dressing room.
Hall did not return to the game.
After the game, Dallas Eakins said Hall's injury would likely keep him out more than a day or two, but there was no official diagnosis.
Obviously Hall is an important part of anything Edmonton does offensively. He was the team's leading scorer last year and really looks like he's coming into his own as an NHL player.
It was a rough hit from Gryba, but didn't appear to be made with malice. The Ottawa defenseman definitely clipped Hall with his knee, but it's hard to say there was any intent there. It's certainly an unfortunate end result.
Hall has eight points this season, including three goals and five assists in nine games.
