This coming March will mark 10 years since Todd Bertuzzi, then with the Vancouver Canucks attacked Avalanche forward Steve Moore from behind in a game that ended Moore's career and finally, after years and years of waiting, a civil suit finally has a starting date.

The case, which will be held before a jury, will begin on Sept. 8, 2014, and is slated to last three months, according to the CBC.

Moore filed a lawsuit against Bertuzzi way back in 2006 and he's now seeking $38 million in damages as Moore suffered a fractured vertebrae from the hit and never played a game afterward. For one reason after another it was never able to begin and it's still almost a year away now, but it finally looks like the trial will be heard.

Moore had also filed a suit against former Canucks coach Marc Crawford but that suit was dropped in 2012.

Bertuzzi, now a member of the Detroit Red Wings, was suspended for the remainder of the 2003-04 season after the incident and that included the entire postseason.
