Erik Karlsson is tired of being talked about like he's some god

The Ottawa Senators came into the season with high expectations. The same can be said of defenseman Erik Karlsson.

Some, such as yours truly, predicted the Sens to reach the Stanley Cup Final this season and for Karlsson to win another Norris Trophy (something I also picked). Through the first couple of weeks the Senators aren't living up to that hype with a 4-5-2 record. Karlsson has been doing what he does best with 10 points in 11 games but his game is never without criticism as defense is in his positional title and he's not the strongest at the end of the ice.

Well the frustration is mounting for Karlsson and on Monday he let it be known. These expectations are tough (or something like that).

So Karlsson is getting a little more candid these days, now isn't he? I mean I know people have had some praise for Karlsson in the past couple of years but I don't think people have actually been praising Karlsson.

Though to be fair, his accomplishments and especially ice time do garner references to other-worldly at times.

It's not always easy being a star player, the spotlight is a little brighter especially when big things are expected of you and your team. It can get frustrating, obviously. Karlsson undoubtedly feels a large brunt of that pressure on his shoulders, but eventually that's something he has to be willing to embrace more, to crave those kinds of expectations.
