The Edmonton Oilers needed good news and it sounds like they got some Tuesday. Center Sam Gagner , who has been out since the preseason with a broken jaw has been medically cleared to play is expected to make his season debut Tuesday night, TSN's Darren Dreger and Bob McKenzie both reported.

Gagner has been out since getting whacked in the face by Vancouver's Zack Kassian, who was suspended eight total games including three preseason and five regular-season contests for the high-sticking infraction.

The Oilers really need the boost Gagner should be able to bring as the team currently sits in last place in the tough Pacific Division with a 3-8-2 record, also good for last in the entire Western Conference.

The 24-year-old center, who is in the first year of a three-year $14.4 million contract with Edmonton, posted 38 points last season in 48 games last season, probably the best year of his career. That should certainly help scoring depth.

And since Halloween is only two days away, here's a reminder of what Kassian's stick did to Gagner's face…
