VIDEO: Kari Lehtonen robs John Mitchell with dazzling save

By Chris Peters | Hockey Writer

Perhaps one of the most underappreciated goalies in the league is Kari Lehtonen. With the number of shots the Dallas Stars give up, he still gives them a chance to win just about every game.

Against Central Division foe and the hottest team in the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche, Lehtonen made a near miraculous save to keep the Stars in it in the third period.

With Lehtonen facing the other direction, he quickly turned around just in time to get both his arm and leg pad up to black a shot from John Mitchell, who seemingly had the whole net to shoot at just a second prior.

Here's how close that puck came to going in the net.

That's the kind of thing Lehtonen has to do with the number of chances he'll see every game. He has that game-saving ability and we saw it again right there.

The Stars did manage to tie the game in regulation, but ended up falling in overtime.
