Toronto Maple Leafs center Dave Bolland had successful surgery to repair a lacerated tendon on Monday, the team announced. He is listed as being out indefinitely for the Leafs.

The Maple Leafs say that the surgery to fix a lacerated tendon on the outside of Bolland's left ankle, not his Achilles. Originally it was believed he had suffered an injury just like the one Erik Karlsson had last season for Toronto but this is to a different tendon.

However that doesn't mean that Bolland's recovery will be any easier than Karlsson's, which was done at warp speed. He's still going to be out for a long while you can assume even with the tag of simply being out indefinitely.

It's a tough blow for the Leafs as Bolland has been sensational since coming over from the Blackhawks this summer. He had already put up six goals and four assists in just 15 games, ratcheting up his point production from where it was in Chicago while actually playing slightly less.

Fellow Leafs centerman Tyler Bozak is also out with an injury at the moment and the Leafs said he was placed on long-term injured reserve on November 2 with a hamstring injury. He's eligible to return on Nov. 21.

This is going to be a tough stretch the Leafs are going to have to weather.
