The Colorado Avalanche got relatively good news Monday on the health of forward Alex Tanguay; he will miss the next two weeks with a knee injury and will then be re-evaluated.

Originally there were fears that Tanguay had done some serious damage to his knee, suffering perhaps a torn ACL that would keep him out for months. But it doesn't appear that is the case.

Tanguay suffered the injury in Saturday's win over the Canadiens in Denver. He left the game and obviously did not return.

Tanguay, reacquired by the Avalanche over the summer from Calgary, has been playing on a line with Paul Stastny and captain Gabriel Landeskog this season. In 13 games this season he had three goals and six assists while averaging 17:16 of ice time per game, fewer than he had been averaging in Calgary.

The Avs have been able to keep their lines pretty much intact in the early going, something that has helped them get off to a 12-1-0 start to the season and first place in the Central Division. Now it's expected that top draft pick Nathan MacKinnon will be elevated to Tanguay's spot on the wing with Stastny and Landeskog.
