Already leading 1-0, the Blue Jackets were working the puck around the Habs' zone. As Jared Boll went hard to the net (without the puck), he was taken down by Canadiens defenseman Douglas Murray. In the process, Boll collided with netminder Peter Budaj who ended up on his backside as well. With a delayed penalty coming for Murray's interference on Boll, the Blue Jackets maintained control of the puck.
It bounced right toNikita Nikitin, who looked to wind up to take a slap shot, but somehow tripped over himself and fell down without getting a shot away. The puck slid towards Artem Anisimov who just swatted at it to keep it away from Rene Bourque. The puck somehow deflected off of Daniel Briere's stick, popped straight up in the air and finally bounced inside the Habs' crease and through Budaj who was just getting to his feet after getting run into by Boll.
There's no goalie interference there because Murray pushed Boll into Budaj.
Anisimov ended up getting credit for the goal, but you'll probably never see anything like that ever again in the NHL. Though, with the way things are going this season, maybe you will.
The Habs had the last laugh, earning a 3-2 shootout victory.
