In the hotly contested Friday night battle between the Anaheim Ducks and Tampa Bay Lightning, Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler was a very busy man. He saw the ice more than any of his teammates with 25:10 of ice time. So he made a lot of trips back and forth to the bench.

When you take as many shifts as Fowler does, sometimes the line change can go horribly wrong.

In the third period with the score knotted at 0-0, Fowler was anticipating his next shift, but he might have been a little over-excited about it. Waiting to make the exchange, Fowler propped himself on the boards separating the bench from the ice. A hit near the bench disrupted the exchange however.

Fowler, still perched on the boards, somehow lost his balance and fell striaght to the ice. It was actually quite a spill.

He had to hop right back onto the bench since no one came off the ice. By the time he got himself situated and ready to go back out, Ben Lovejoy had already jumped the boards and into the play, meaning Fowler had to quickly get back to and stay on the bench.

If Fowler was looking for any sympathy, he got none from rookie teammate Hampus Lindholm, who shared a hearty laugh at Fowler's expense, as did the Ducks' broadcast team.

It should be noted that Fowler is in the midst of what appears to be a bounce-back year. The former first-round pick has been chasing his rookie success for the past three seasons and this year he looks to be back on track. He has 12 points in 25 games, surpassing his total from last season, and is averaging nearly 23 minutes a night.
