Between injuries and suspensions, the Maple Leafs just can't seem their best lineup to the ice very much this season. Now it's forward Joffrey Lupul who will be out indefinitely after suffering a Grade 2 groin strain. He will not travel with the team on its upcoming three-game road trip according to the team.

Lupul, who suffered the injury during Toronto's blowout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets Monday, has 15 points including eight goals in 22 games this season. Coming on the heels of that embarrassing loss, this one is sure to sting quite a bit for the Leafs.

Head coach Randy Carlyle was not optimistic that Lupul would be able to return soon as he addressed reporters Tuesday.

Lupul already missed two games earlier this season with a bruised foot.

Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick was also recently diagnosed with a Grade 2 groin strain and while no definitive timetable was given, estimates have put Quick out for multiple weeks. It's always tough to compare injuries as people recover differently, but groin strains can be tricky in terms of recovery time anyway.

The Leafs have really struggled as a possession team this year and Lupul is no different, but his offensive abilities certainly bring an element. The club has maintained a pretty solid scoring clip despite being continually out-shot. A guy like Lupul helps balance that out.

Losing more depth at forward hurts, but the Leafs have been dealing with that all season it seems.
