Minnesota Wild star forward Zach Parise was injured on Monday night against the St. Louis Blues blocking a shot from Alexander Steen. He struggled for a while after the injury trying to play before his night came to an early end in the second period.

On Tuesday the Wild got the diagnosis on Parise's injury and learned he's going to miss 2-3 weeks with a foot contusion.

While it's going to be tough to be without a player like Parise, who is their leading goal scorer, for a couple of weeks, it's almost a relief that it wasn't worse, not only for the Wild but also the US national team, of which Parise will not only be a player but a team leader. He should be back well before Christmas and should be just fine with this injury when the Olympics do roll around.

Everybody dodged a bullet on this one.

When the Wild take the ice on Wednesday without Parise, it will be the first time he hasn't suited up with the team since he signed the monster deal in free agency with the Wild before last season.

Parise has 11 goals and 11 assists this season in 25 games, averaging 20:19 per night. He has been playing on a very productive and incredibly strong puck possession line with Mikko Koivu.
