When the NHL unveiled the chrome logos for the teams participating in the Stadium Series this year, the collection of outdoor games that will take place all over the continent, they were met with a fair share of disgust. They just seemed a little odd.
Well because it's an outdoor game, that unique logo will extend to unique sweaters because nobody ever wears a normal jersey on the outdoor ice.
This week the New York Islanders became the first team to reveal their Stadium Series uniforms and I gotta say, they are pretty nice, chrome logo and all. The players certainly seem to agree.
One criticism of the logo is that it dumps the traditional image of Long Island from the center of the sweater but for one game, that's not the end of the world. The infusion of more white, especially with the shoulder yoke, is a nice touch, makes it look a little more clean to me.
Dare I say, I like the jersey, especially more than the Islanders' current third jersey. Maybe this will replace that black monstrosity after the Stadium Series.
You can see more images of the full jersey on the Isles' team site.
