Dallas Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas left the ice on a stretcher after injuring his right leg. Based on the replays, it would appear Robidas' injury is a serious one with his leg bending in an awful way in the second period against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Robidas was attempting to block a passing lane as Jonathan Toews got around him. Toews' initial pass attempt actually went off of Robidas' right ankle and caused the Stars defensman to stumble.

As Robidas turned on the ice, he went feet-first into the boards. His right leg appeared to be pinned between the boards and his body quite awkwardly.

After watching the video a few times, it is unclear if Toews' pass or the boards themselves did the most damage. Either way, that looked like a double dose of pain for the veteran blueliner.

When Robidas realized the injury, he looked to be in some serious trouble, throwing his gloves off and grabbing at his right leg. According to the Stars, Robidas suffered a fractured leg on the play.

Warning: Many may consider these images to be graphic. Be advised.

The 36-year-old veteran has four goals and an assist, while averaging just over 20 minutes a night in 24 games this season.

Robidas has been very durable in his last nine seasons with the Stars. He hasn't played less than 72 games in any of the past nine years, save for the shortened 48-game campaign in 2013. He did play in all 48 games.

Given Robidas' age and nature of the injury, this could be a long road back.

In 871 career games, most with Dallas, Robidas has posted 246 points.
