The Edmonton Oilers snapped up Ilya Bryzgalov in an attempt to stabilize their goaltending situation, but things could get sketchy again in short order. Bryzgalov left Sunday night's contest after getting run over by Dallas Stars forward Ryan Garbutt.

Garbutt was not penalized on the play and shouldn't have been. While on a partial breakaway, Garbutt lost his footing while attempting to put a shot on net. With no opportunity to avoid contact sliding on his knees, he hit Bryzgalov, who was low attempting to make a save.

The Oilers netminder went down immediately as the shot went wide. It looked like the brunt of the contact was absorbed by Bryzgalov's head and neck, which obviously isn't a good thing.

The Russian netminder who was bought out by the Flyers in the offseason was having a really solid game as well. Through 36:19 of action, Bryzgalov made 28 saves on 29 shots. In three previous appearances with the Oilers, Bryzgalov posted a 1-1-0 record, .928 save percentage and 2.24 goals-against average.

Adding insult to injury, Garbutt scored on Devan Dubnyk in the third period to give the Stars a 2-1 lead.
