Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows will be out indefinitely after suffering a broken jaw, according to multiple reports. Burrows left Vancouver's 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes Sunday after getting hit in the face by a Chris Tanev clearing attempt.

The Canucks forward already missed three weeks of action this season after getting hurt blocking a shot in Vancouver's season opener against the San Jose Sharks. Pucks have not been kind to Burrows this year, apparently.

Perhaps that long layoff early in the year has impacted Burrows in more ways than one. The 32-year-old forward is having one of his least productive seasons to date with just three assists in 17 games and no goals.

Typically good for 25 goals or more a year, Burrows hasn't seemed to find his way in John Tortorella's regime. Yet another injury setback isn't going to help.

Burrows' injury also puts a hit on Vancouver's forward depth as the Canucks languish in fifth place in the tough Pacific Division with a 14-10-5 record.
