Less than a period from completing a shutout on Tuesday night, Columbus Blue Jackets goalie and reigning Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky left the game with an apparent injury.

The injury came with the Jackets holding a 1-0 lead early in the third period and after Bobrovsky made a save -- a pretty spectacular save at that. He was replaced by Curtis McElhinney.

It was the dreaded "no-contact" injury for Bobrovsky as well, which is rarely a good sign.

Uh oh indeed. Here's a GIF of the injury courtesy of Sean Gentille at The Sporting News.

Bobrovsky has been nowhere near as good as he was last season for the Jackets when he almost led them to the playoffs almost single-handedly to win the Vezina, but he's still their No. 1 goalie and plays a lot of minutes.

Bobrovsky has a 9-11-2 record this season with a .906 save percentage and 2.81 goals against average for a Jackets team that has struggled (he hasn't had a lot of offensive help either).

We're also at that point that any potential injuries have to be viewed in the prism of the Olympics coming up as well. Bobrovsky might not be the favorite to start for host Russia but he figures to be on the team and in contention with Semyon Varlamov for the role but if he's out for any length of time, it will be a blow for two teams, not just the Blue Jackets.
