Zac Rinaldo had an eventful first shift when the Philadelphia Flyers took on the Dallas Stars on Saturday. It would be his only shift of the game. The Flyers' serial disturber went after Stars forward and fellow agitator Antoine Roussel.

Rinaldo wanted to drop the gloves right away, but Roussel, normally a willing combatant, did not. After all, it was less than two minutes into the game. Rinaldo wouldn't take no for an answer though. He jumped Roussel, missed with one punch and as the two went to the ground, Rinaldo landed one on the prone Stars forward.

For his troubles, Rinaldo got a two-minute minor for instigating, a five-minute major for fighting, a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct. That gave the Stars a seven-minute power play, as Roussel rightly went unpenalized. They did not score on the lengthy man advantage.

If the league really wants to be tough on hits to the head, sucker punches obviously should be part of the conversation when it comes to supplemental discipline. This is as dirty as any high hit or check from behind, if not worse and the NHL should be taking a hard-line stance incidents like these.

Rinaldo's day ended after only four seconds of ice time.
