Lecavalier suffered a non-displaced fracture in his lower back and is going to miss 3-4 weeks. He was travelling with the team but the Flyers sent him back to Philadelphia on Sunday, GM Paul Holmgren announced.
"Vinny Lecavalier skated yesterday [Dec. 7] in Dallas. It is the team's decision this morning for Lecavalier to return to Philadelphia for further evaluation by our medical staff. It is undecided if he will join the team in Chicago."
This is the second injury to sideline the veteran centerman this season. He missed nearly two weeks worth of time in October. Still, he has nine goals this season which are enough to tie for the Flyers' team lead (with Matt Read). Lecavalier also has five assists.
Considering the Flyers are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the league this year, that hurts. He's been a solid addition for the Flyers when he's been healthy.
