Star Wars and hockey apparently go together as well as Wookies and Human smuggler pilots because the iconic movie is making another appearance on a sweater in the game.

The US National Under-18 Team, which plays in the USHL, will play host to Star Wars Night on Saturday, Jan. 18 in Ann Arbor when they face Waterloo. Characters from the movie series will be on hand and of course the team will be wearing special jerseys.

Even though they're white, they are awfully dark.

"This is the third-straight season we've held this fantastic promotion," said Scott Monaghan, senior director of operations at USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, in a press release. "Each year this night has grown and it's now one of the most popular games on the schedule."

After the game the jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds benefitting C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. Even though they associate the U-18 Team with the Dark Side, that's a pretty sweet sweater and they will likely go in a hurry.

I especially like the look on the backside, complete with the Impirical logo above the name. It's kind of cool how Vader wraps right around the sweater, too, instead of just cutting off.

I'd say that the whole Star Wars hockey sweater thing is played out and is jumping the shark at warp speed but if we were able to withstand Jar Jar Binks for three movies, we can put up with some sweaters. Some pretty awesome sweaters that benefit a good cause, I might add.
