Winnipeg Jets forward Anthony Peluso is the latest player to feel the heavy hand of the NHL's disciplinary system as he was suspended three games on Sunday.

Peluso was assessed a major penalty for boarding Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski in Saturday's contest and was shown an early exit from the game. The hearing being announced was of little surprise given the poor hit in question and the punishment was quickly turned around.

The dangerous part of the hit wasn't just that he nailed Goligoski from behind but that Peluso also elevated some into the hit, leading to Goligoski's head smashing into the glass. The Stars defenseman received 12 stitches as a result so he did suffer injury, but did return in the game.

This is just the latest suspension in what has become a very busy stretch for the NHL offices. David Clarkson was suspended for two games on Saturday following a busy week (that you can see more of here).

Peluso has only played 16 games this season with just one goal to show for it and averages just 6:45 of ice time per game. In other words his presence shouldn't be missed all that much on the ice in the next three games.

He turns over $8,653.86 in salary as a result of the suspension.
