There is no shortage of ugly Christmas sweater jerseys across the world of hockey, it has become as cliched as the sing-along videos to All I want for Christmas or some other holiday classic.
Usually these ugly sweaters all have one thing in common: they are red and/or green just so you can't miss the point that indeed they are Christmas sweaters. The idea is cool and all but once you've seen one you have pretty much seen them all.
That was until the Toledo Walleyes showed off their sweater to be worn on the game after Christmas on Dec. 28. The ECHL club, which already busted out these Star Wars sweaters, isn't going with the standard red and green but instead going more with the team's color motiffe.
It's nauseating which pretty much makes it the best Christmas sweater jersey you'll see this year.
That's sick. I can't decide if I use that term literally or not.
The Walleye are encouraging fans to wear their ugly sweaters to the game so it could be a massive heaping of ugly in one arena. As you'd expect they are going to auction off the jerseys after the game for the sake of charity. About the only reason I could see in wanting one is to have an ugly Christmas sweater on hand for next year.
