The Edmonton Oilers took a fourth-round stab on a gifted young prospect out of the Michigan AAA youth hockey ranks at the last NHL Draft named Aidan Muir. The big 6-3, 182-pound forward now plays junior with the Indiana Ice in the United States Hockey League and may have turned in that circuit's highlight of the year Friday night.

In a game against the Youngstown Phantoms, with his team shorthanded, Muir outraced a defenseman for a loose puck, but ended up losing his footing once he reached the offensive zone. Sliding on his knees from the top of the faceoff circles all the way to near the left side of the net, Muir didn't seem to have a shot. But he found a way to get one off.

From his knees and with his back facing the goal, Muir not only got a shot off, he got off a good one. On his backhand, still sliding, he somehow chipped the puck into the top-right corner of the net.

The video angle probably doesn't do this goal justice, but considering the distance Muir traveled sliding on his knees and the fact he basically had to muscle the shot as best he possibly could have gotten off, that's an incredible goal in any league.

Indiana ended up winning the game 4-0.

The 18-year-old forward is committed to attend Western Michigan University for next year and is having a great rookie campaign in the USHL with 18 points in 23 games for the Ice.
