Brenden Morrow was with the Dallas Stars for a long time, reaching a Stanley Cup Final in Dallas and then serving as the team captain for years until last season. The veteran Morrow was traded away to Pittsburgh and then signed with the Blues in the offseason. So Sunday marked the first time that Morrow played in Dallas as an opponent.

As you'd expect, the Stars honored Morrow at a break in the action with a video montage of Morrow's greatest moments with the Stars and the crowd on hand gave their former captain a good round of applause to show their appreciation.

Morrow watched on the big screen above the ice and could only smile when it was done as he acknowledged the crowd with a few waves.

It's always an intersting -- and odd -- dynamic for franchise icons to come back and play in a building where they made so many memories. It started to hit Morrow before the game as he approached the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Morrow was taken 25th overall in the 1997 draft by the Stars and played 835 games with Dallas over the years. He had a career-high 33 goals in 2010-11 and a career-best 74 points in 2007-08. This season with the Blues he has six goals and eight assists in 31 games, playing just 12 minutes per game in a reduced role for the Blues.
