After 32 years and 231 days and following 500 AHL games, Sharks rookie Bracken Kearns finally notched his first career NHL goal on Sunday night against the Ducks.
Bracken Kearns: "You know I have dreamed of scoring a goal in the NHL since I was kid, so it was just an amazing feeling."— Eric Stephens (@icemancometh) December 30, 2013
Skating up from the bench, Kearns followed a rebound that just sort of sat in front the net until Kearns seized it with 9:16 left in the second period. He became the oldest Sharks rookie to score a goal.
"Big time, big time," he said to The Mercury News. "I was coming from the bench. It was just one of those pucks that squirt out like that. Just amazing."
Kearns' goal – in his eighth NHL game – gave the Sharks (25-8-6) a 3-0 lead, and they held on to defeat Anaheim (28-8-5), snapping the Ducks' 10-game winning streak with the 3-1 win.
