The Colorado Avalanche have been relatively lucky in the injury department this season, not being afflicted by a ton, aiding them to a solid start to the season. Their luck caught up to them a bit on Monday when coach Patrick Roy announced that forward P.A. Parenteau is going to miss the next six weeks.

"He's out around six weeks," Roy told the media. "It's a knee injury. MCL second degree sprain, they said it's about six weeks.

"It's part of a season. We've been pretty lucky I think so far. We haven't been hit too much by injuries."

Parenteau has played in all 38 games this season but that streak will obviously come to an end now. In those 38 games he has nine goals and 15 assists, good enough for the fourth-most points on the team.

The injury came in the Avs' 2-1 OT loss to the Jets on Sunday, continuing what has been a pretty tough December for the Avs, at least compared to October and November. They have gone 4-5-4 in December with one game left to go but maintain a pretty comfortable hold (for the moment) on the third playoff spot in the Central Division.
