WATCH: Lightning, Canucks notch three goals in 30-second span

By Mike Singer |

With so many sporting distractions on New Year's Day (numerous bowl games, the Winter Classic, hangovers), Tampa Bay and Vancouver could've easily been an afterthought. Thanks to a second-period scoring flurry, that was hardly the case.

Valtteri Filppula sniped a goal for Tampa with 4:33 left in the second to even the game at 1-1.

Twenty seconds later, the Lightning took the lead off a pretty two-on-one breakaway, finished off by Tyler Johnson.

That lead was short-lived, however, as Vancouver's Zac Dalpe responded with his first goal of the year, fourteen seconds later.

Take that, you aesthetically pleasing Winter Classic.
