One of the ongoing narratives in recent years at the World Junior Championship is that Canada has been failed by sub-par goaltending during a gold-medal drought that dates back to 2009. That hasn't been the case this year as Canadiens prospect Zach Fucale has been rather good, relatively speaking.
He made his best save, and perhaps the save of the tournament for any goalie, against Finland in Saturday's semifinal when he robbed Otto Rauhala with a diving glove save.
It's hard to believe that puck didn't find a way into the net. That's a miraculous save right there.
Unfortunately for Fucale and Canada, seconds later, Sabres prospect Rasmus Ristolainen scored to give the Finns a 3-1 advantage in the second period. Sometimes that's how hockey works, I guess. Still an awesome stop.
